Our program today was presented by Jean Annessi. It consisted of a slide show of her recent trip to Australia and New Zealand. Very informative and educational. Thanks Jean!

Walworth County Director of Emergency Government Tim Shaw speaks to the membership about the general readiness of the County with respect to terrorist activity and chemical/biologic events. First line of defense is DON'T PANIC. There have been numerous "false alarms". Use common sense. If you feel there is a genuine concern, don't hesitate to dial 9-1-1 to have it checked out by trained personnel.
Of a bigger concern is the upcoming flu outbreak. It is believed that this particular strain of flu is going to be nasty, worse than the last. Vaccines are available for the elderly and infirm but again there is an anticipated shortage. Best defense, wash hands often and do what Doc Mol always preached... get plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and maintain a healthy diet.

Baby Books, Baby Books... It was time to "roll up the sleeves" and assemble additional books for new parents "checked in" at Lakeland Medical Center. During the year, our club assembles about 600 books for new parents. It was slow starting but after you understood the "system", we were on a ROLL!!
(Now... if we could just get everyone to put them together in the same order...)

Kiwanian Jodi Acheson presents Mike Ettner from Mallard Ridge Sanitary Landfill who gave everyone the "trash" on the ins and outs of area landfill sites.
